Councilmember Chris Kennedy, District at Large

Chris was elected to the Council in April 2015. He believes Grand Junction can honor its Western heritage while becoming “technologically innovative, economically diverse and a must-see destination.” Chris owns Kennedy Telecommunications Services LLC, providing services and support to small office and residential clients and telecommunications services in gas and oil field locations.
After leaving the military, Chris started his technology career in cable television as a field technician in Massachusetts, eventually holding roles as Director of Engineering and Technical Operations for multiple companies over the years in many locations throughout the US, giving him valuable experience in government relations, budget management and technological development in diverse economic and geographic environments.
His priorities include creation of infrastructure necessary to make Grand Junction a 10-gigabit city; fairness to all businesses; support for arts, entertainment and music; a strong downtown core including redevelopment of the historic train station; and support for improving K-12 education. Chris is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps with two sons, three grandsons and a wonderful fiancée. A tenor sax player, Chris studied Jazz Composition and Arrangement at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA., Business Administration and Accounting at Nichols College in Dudley, MA. and Computer Sciences at Colorado Mesa University. He is a hockey player, coach and referee.
