Short-Term Rentals


Short-term or vacation rentals are becoming increasingly popular across the United States. A dwelling unit that is rented in full or in part to a temporary occupant for fewer than thirty consecutive days is considered a short-term rental.

In an effort to implement regulations related to guest safety and community impact in Grand Junction, the Community Development Department has created a process by which short-term rentals will be permitted. 

These regulations were authorized by the City Council (Ordinance No. 4813) and will go into effect on September 16, 2018.  However, applications are now available and short-term rental operators are encouraged to submit their application between now and October 16, whereby the $150 registration fee will be waived. A fee of $10 for a sales tax license and $35 for building inspection will still be required.
