Community Resource Unit
Address: 555 Ute Avenue
Grand Junction, CO 81501
The mission of the Community Resource Unit is to serve the community and the police department by developing and implementing programs that prevent crime, reduce fear of crime, promote safety, and support officers in their community policing activities.
The Community Resource Unit is comprised of three officers and one sergeant, and they offer a variety of services, such as assistance in setting up neighborhood safety programs, attending community events to provide crime prevention education, and sharing information about simple, cost effective ways in which you can make your home or business environment more secure.
The Community Resource Unit has also absorbed what was formerly known as the Homeless Outreach Team. Community Resource officers specialize in building relationships and coordinating services, with an overall goal of reducing calls for service to the police department from the homeless population. In order the accomplish this, Community Resource officers work with a myriad of services providers, in an effort to utilize those relationships to link consumers with assistance resources, such as housing, medical and substance abuse treatment, reunification with family, employment, and basic needs, such as clothing and identification.
