The City of Grand Junction has announced a call for artists interested in creating a single continuous mural design as a focal point to enhance the Westlake Skate Park, located at 325 W. Orchard Avenue. Interested artists can apply by submitting a color design concept by August 1, 2023, to Marlene Godsey, Arts and Culture and Adult Programs coordinator at marleneg@gjcity.org

Artists are offered a three-month process during which to assemble their proposals, which are due August 1, 2023. The city’s Commission on Arts and Culture will then select the artist to complete the work, which is scheduled for September. View the full call for artists.

The Westlake Skate Park mural project is one of the largest city mural projects to date with available space of more than 18,000 square feet. Painting of Westlake Skate Park takes place each year and is intended to brighten up the park, offer more public art space, and improve the overall user experience for visitors to the park.

Grand Junction Parks and Recreation offers a wide variety of recreational programming for all ages and abilities as described in the seasonal activity guide.
