The City of Grand Junction is hosting an open house to gather input from the community on the Electric Vehicle (EV) Readiness Plan from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24 at the BookCliff Activity Center at 540 29 1/4 Rd. in Grand Junction. The city is utilizing Xcel’s Partners in Energy, a free consultation service, to lead the creation of the plan. During the open house, community members can share ideas about how the city can incorporate EVs into everyday life in Grand Junction as well as suggest locations for charging stations. In addition to attending the open house, input can be provided on EngageGJ.org/EV

Nearly 10 percent of newly-registered vehicles in Colorado in 2022 were EVs, making the state a top-five national leader in EV adoption. Almost a million Colorado-registered EVs are expected to be on the road by 2030 and that number is anticipated to rise as affordability and charging flexibility continue to improve.

Collaborating with XCEL Energy’s “Partners in Energy” program enables Grand Junction to access charging infrastructure funding and rebate opportunities to help realize this goal. In addition, an EV Action Team has been formed comprised of a diverse group of community stakeholders to guide the development and completion of the plan with input and suggestions gathered from the community.
