Officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of male threatening his neighbor in the 700 block of S HWY 50 on 06/14/23 at approximately 11:50am. Two male neighbors were involved in a verbal altercation when one male, later identified as Raymond Alvarado (age 50), pulled out a knife and pointed it at the other male. Alvarado retreated to his apartment and refused to cooperate with law enforcement, ultimately barricading himself in his apartment. Grand Junction Police SWAT responded to the scene and attempted to contact Alvarado who eventually exited his apartment and was taken into custody.
Raymond Alvarado was remanded to the Mesa County Detention Facility where he was arrested on two unrelated warrants and charged with the following additional charges:
- Felony Menacing
- Violation of Protection Order by Possessing Weapons
The Grand Junction Police Department believes this to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community. This incident remains under investigation and there is no further information available at this time.
