The City of Grand Junction is reconstructing areas of asphalt in the parking lot at Canyon View Park beginning on Monday, August 7, 2023. Park access will remain open during construction and pedestrians and motorists are asked to use caution in that area. Because of its extensive nature, the paving project is expected to be complete by the end of September.
The paving project will be broken into three phases:
- South parking lot entrance closest to the handball court, north to the 24 Road entrance
- From the 24 Road entrance through the north parking lot
- Access road along the north side of the park ending at 24 ½ Road
The $1.3 million dollar construction project is being managed by Oldcastle SW Group dba United Companies. This project is outlined as a priority in the 2021 Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Master Plan for the parks and recreation system. A major theme in this plan was to take care of items already in the system when the community is considering bringing on new facilities.
