The City of Grand Junction is reconstructing areas of asphalt in the parking lot at Canyon View Park beginning on Monday, August 7, 2023. Park access will remain open during construction and pedestrians and motorists are asked to use caution in that area. Because of its extensive nature, the paving project is expected to be complete by the end of September.

UPDATE: -- To minimize disruption for athletes and their fans, the project has been combined into two phases from three

Phase 1 Closure 8/7-8/11 and 8/14 - 8/16: Paving of the South parking lot entrance closest to the handball court, north to the 24 Road entrance

Phase 2 Closure: 8/30-9/1 and 9/5 - 9/7: Paving from the 24 Road entrance through the north parking lot and the access road along the north side of the park ending at the northwest corner near the baseball fields.

The $1.3 million dollar construction project is being managed by Oldcastle SW Group dba United Companies. This project is outlined as a priority in the 2021 Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Master Plan for the parks and recreation system. A major theme in this plan was to take care of items already in the system when the community is considering bringing on new facilities.
