At 7:19 PM Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on the 400 block of Sandia Drive. The reporting party stated that an interior room of the home was on fire. All occupants were able to evacuate. When Engine 5 arrived at 7:26 AM the crew quickly entered the home to extinguished the fire. The fire was out at 7:35 AM. The interior of the home suffered heavy smoke damage. There are no known injuries. The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation.
Grand Junction Fire Department responded with Truck 1, Truck 6, Engine 2, Engine 5, Ambulance 2, and a Battalion Chief. MCSO responded and assisted with scene safety and traffic control. The American Red Cross assisted one adult and five children displaced by the fire.
