The City of Grand Junction will host a free Halloween-themed “Get to Know Your City” event for the whole family on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 4 – 6 p.m. at Whitman Park.
The event will feature games, tricks, and treats for the kids, and a Touch-A-Truck event on 4th Street which will be closed for the event. City staff will present information about projects, plans, and new initiatives and many will be in costume. Warm cider will be served and the first 200 guests to complete their spooky bingo card can stop by and receive a bag of treats from City Manager Greg Caton. Displays will also include a history of buildings and locations in the community thought to be haunted.
Attendees are encouraged to park in the lots on Colorado between 4th and 5th Streets, at Ute and 6th and at the History Museum, or at meters in downtown, and enter Whitman Park at the signal/crosswalk on the corner of 5th and Ute.
Get to Know Your City events are planned throughout the year to provide community members with an opportunity to learn more about current and upcoming city projects and initiatives. City staff are on hand at these events to answer questions and displays to provide detail regarding projects and plans currently underway or in the planning stages. Staff also offer ways for the public to provide input and learn more about current projects. In addition to information about plans involving public safety, transportation, utilities, and development, the event offers residents in the first phases of the Dual Stream Recycling program a chance to learn more and see the new recycling collection bins. These events are free and open to all community members. For information or questions about the event email firstname.lastname@example.org.
