[ARCHIVED] City of Grand Junction Begins Work on Riverside Parkway

On Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, City Construction crews will begin repairs on the Riverside Parkway Bridges at the 5th Street Interchange. Riverside Parkway will be reduced to one lane eastbound and westbound between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday- Friday. Motorists should expect delays and longer than normal commute times. Alternate routes are advised.

The Riverside Parkway Interchange was constructed 15 years ago with bridge structures on deep foundations with stabilized earth walls to support the approaching roadway. The large earth fills behind the walls have settled over the years causing dips in the roadway.

While the walls and bridges remain safe for traffic, the City will hire a contractor next spring to make additional more permanent repairs to the walls to ensure their long-term stability.
