At 2:19 AM this morning, Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a report of a fire on the 2900 block of Hermosa Court. When crews arrived on the scene, they found a single-family home with smoke and flames visible on the lower level of the home with everyone safely evacuated. Crews worked to completely extinguish the fire and search for two dogs that were unaccounted for. One dog was found dead, and the second dog was found alive before crews left the home. The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.
Grand Junction Police Department responded to assist with traffic control and scene safety. The American Red Cross responded to assist two adults and three children displaced by the fire.
