At 3:53 AM Sunday morning Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on the 2900 block of Orchard Avenue. The reporting party stated that a room of the trailer home was on fire. All occupants were able to evacuate. When Engine 2 and Truck 6 arrived at 4:04 AM crews quickly entered the home to extinguish the fire. The fire was out at 4:17 AM. One dog and one rabbit died in the fire. The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation.
Grand Junction Fire Department responded with Truck 6, Engine 1, Engine 2, Ambulance 2, and a Battalion Chief. MCSO responded and assisted with scene safety and traffic control.
