The City of Grand Junction and its contractor will begin replacing water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer within Hale Avenue. Hale Avenue, west of the intersection with Lawrence Avenue, will be closed starting Monday, December 7th. Work will take place Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. The utility installation will take approximately two weeks to complete.
This temporary closure will allow crews to install new utility infrastructure which will serve the new Riverfront at Dos Rios development that is currently under construction. Some of the existing utilities along Hale Avenue are approximately 100 years old and require replacement. Scheduled for a future date, Hale Avenue will receive a full reconstruction. This reconstruction will nearly double the width of the road and will serve as the primary entrance to the Riverfront at Dos Rios development. Traffic, pedestrians, and bicycle traffic may still turn on to Hale Avenue from the Riverside Parkway, but will be detoured to the north, along Lawrence Ave., to Fairview Ave. in order to access Crawford Ave., Rockaway Ave., Chuluota Ave. and Park Ave.
Access to residences will be maintained. Alternative entrances to alleys between Crawford and Rockaway Avenues, Rockaway and Chuluota Avenues, as well as Chuluota and Park Avenues are advised to be accessed off of Fairview Avenue, while the detour is posted.
Advanced notification will be given if any additional access needs to be temporarily closed during daytime hours.
The Contractor will provide traffic control and on-site flaggers to help traffic through and around the work area, if needed.
Please drive with caution around the construction equipment and follow all traffic warning signs in the work areas.
