Last night at 9:06 PM Grand Junction Fire Department responded to reports of a home on fire on the 2800 block of C ½ Rd. A neighbor called the fire in, reporting that a seemingly abandoned home down the road was on fire. When crews arrived on scene they found the home fully engulfed in flames. Crews attacked the fire from the outside of the home and were able to prevent the flames from spreading to other homes and surrounding brush along the river. With no nearby hydrants crews relied on water supply from a water tender to fight the blaze. After the fire was out crews remained on scene until 12:15 AM working to make sure that there were no hot spots in or around the remains of the home. No injuries have been reported as a result of the fire.
GJFD responded with Engine 1, Engine 3, Engine 4, Truck 6, Ambulance 1, Water Tender 6, and a Battalion Chief. Mesa County Sheriff’s Office also responded and assisted with scene control and safety. The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.
