[ARCHIVED] GJPD Searching for Kidnapping Suspect

Pierce, Jacob

The Grand Junction Police Department is searching for a known suspect who was involved in the kidnapping of an adult female on December 5th

Shortly before 11:30 this morning, information was relayed to the Grand Junction Police Department by another law enforcement agency that there was a vehicle in the area of 24 ¾ Rd and Highway 6 and 50, matching a description of a vehicle that is wanted by law enforcement. The registered owner of the vehicle, Jacob Pierce, is wanted on several warrants, including:

  • 2nd Degree Kidnapping
  • Theft
  • Obstructing a Peace Officer
  • Criminal Impersonation
  • 3rd Degree Criminal Trespass

Officers responded to the area in which the vehicle was spotted and upon arrival, Jacob Pierce fled the scene. A short vehicle pursuit ensued, in which officers were unable to make successful contact with Pierce. Ultimately, Pierce crashed his vehicle into a power box in the area between Patterson Road and Orchard Avenue, on 1st Street and fled the scene on foot.

Officers immediately set up a perimeter in the area and began searching for Pierce. They interviewed witnesses and residents in the area and searched nearby properties of private residences with permission from the homeowner. The victim of the kidnapping was contacted near 2nd Street and North Avenue, interviewed, and released.

We understand that incidents like this are concerning to our community. The investigation remains ongoing and the Grand Junction Police Department is asking that anyone who sees or hears anything suspicious, to please call 911 immediately. Pierce was last seen wearing dark colored clothes and a ball cap, and should be considered dangerous. If you see him, do not approach him.

Anyone with information pertaining to Pierce’s location is encouraged to report that information to non-emergency dispatch at 970-242-6707.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
