At 8:12 PM Grand Junction Fire Department responded to reports of an unattached garage on fire with flames spreading to a nearby home on the 2500 block of D Road. The 9-1-1 caller alerted the residents to the fire. The family was able to evacuate without injury. Crews attacked the fire and prevented flames from entering the home. The fire was extinguished by 8:24 PM. The garage and vehicles were heavily damaged, and three goats and two dogs were lost in the fire. The home sustained minor damage and the family is temporarily displaced.
GJFD responded with Truck 1, Truck 6, Engine 3, Engine 4, Engine 5, and a Battalion Chief. The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded and assisted with scene safety and traffic control.
