[ARCHIVED] Nomination Petitions for City Council Candidates Available December 30th

The next regular City Council election will take place Tuesday, April 6th, 2021.  There will be four seats up for election:  District A, District D, District E, and one At-large seat. Beginning December 30, 2020, nomination petitions for City Council candidacy will be available at two locations:

  • On the City’s website (www.gjcity.org)
  • Picked up in person at City Hall (250 North 5th Street)
    •   Because City Hall is currently closed due to an increase in COVID-19 cases, please call (970) 244-1509 and a member of the City Clerk’s Office will bring a packet to the front door

Nomination petitions can be circulated starting on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 and are due no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2021.    

In order to qualify to run for a City Council seat you must be at least 18 years of age, be a registered Grand Junction voter and have lived in the city limits for twelve consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election. A map of all Council Districts can be found here.
