3:15 P.M. UPDATE: City Public Works crews have the new pipe installed and are backfilling right now. Crews anticipate the intersection will be open by 6:00 p.m. this evening.
Thursday night, City Public Works and Streets staff assessed a 18" sinkhole that had developed in the inside lane of northbound 1st Street at White Ave. City crews determined that the sinkhole underneath the surface is approximately 6 foot x 6 foot x 7 foot deep.
Traffic control has been set up to close the northern inside lane and a steel plate has been placed over the surface.
Persigo crews will be working with Streets staff Friday morning to determine the extent of the collapse and scope of repair. Other connector pipes from adjacent inlets may be compromised as well. The approximate area is shown in blue.
