The City of Grand Junction had one employee test positive for COVID-19 this week. To reduce the spread of the virus, employees monitor symptoms daily and track symptoms at the beginning of every working shift. The City developed a mask policy that went into effect April 13, 2020 following the Governor’s guidelines, which requires City employees to wear masks personal interactions and while working inside. In-person interactions between staff are limited as staff has options for teleworking and work areas have been improved to promote health and safety.
In continued partnership with Mesa County Public Health and Pinnacle Venue Services, management contractor for the Grand Junction Convention Center, the City of Grand Junction is providing 12,600 square feet of ballroom space for a COVID-19 vaccination clinic. The clinic includes a designated space for vaccination and a recovery area. The City is also providing space in the facility for the volunteers administering the vaccinations as well as the cost of the utilities. Pinnacle Venue Services is providing the daily management of the facility, ensuring that the building is operating smoothly throughout the clinic’s hours of operation. The Fire Department is staffing the clinic with EMTs to assist with monitoring the health of those who received the vaccine.
Colorado is currently in Phase 1 of vaccine distribution and Mesa County is currently in Phase 1A and 1B of distribution. To slow the spread of disease, Mesa County Public Health continues to ask all Mesa County residents to continue physical distancing, mask-wearing, and limiting social interactions with those outside your immediate household until a vaccine is widely available and able to be distributed to all residents of Mesa County.
Municipal Court will resume holding regular in person court sessions on Tuesday and Thursday of each week with Wednesday court sessions on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. A new Activity Guide for Parks & Recreation will be distributed in March, highlighting activities available during the pandemic.
