[ARCHIVED] Veteran’s Memorial Park – City of Grand Junction and Mesa County Partnership

Veterans Memorial park

Grand Junction Parks & Recreation recently signed an intergovernmental agreement with Mesa County to provide athletic programming at Veteran’s Memorial Park located at the Mesa County Fairgrounds, 2785 Highway 50.

This partnership will allow sports groups to rent these fields through parks and recreation to utilize the field space for recreational programmings such as athletic games, practices, and tournaments.

Grand Junction Parks & Recreation previously used Dixson Park, located at 287 27 Road, for recreational programming until it was sold in November of 2020. The sale of this property resulted in a shortage of readily accessible field space for Orchard Mesa residents .

This new agreement with Mesa County for Veteran’s Memorial Park offers a solution for the loss of field space. Veteran’s Park is a large park that  can accommodate  larger user groups and more sports participants. Veteran’s Memorial Park will join the list of available athletic  fields for rental and community use, including Canyon View Park, Lincoln Park, and Long’s Park. This will improve service to many field sports, including soccer, football and lacrosse.

For more information on field space rentals, please call the Grand Junction Parks & Recreation office at 970-254-3866.
