At 2:45 AM this morning Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a call from a resident on the 100 block of Elm Ave. saying that their home was filling with thick smoke. When crews arrived on scene the three occupants and a dog had safely exited the home. Crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire in the basement of the structure and located flames spreading through the walls. Crews diligently searched the home and to put out the spreading fire and ventilated the home. There are no known injuries. The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.
GJFD responded with Truck 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine, Truck 6, Ambulance 3, and a Battalion Chief. GJPD also responded to assist with traffic control and scene safety.
