[ARCHIVED] Grand Junction Arbor Day Seedling Delivery

Seedling Delivery

The City of Grand Junction is celebrating Arbor Day with the return of its tree seedling delivery program. Beginning 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 13th, Grand Junction residents will have the opportunity to request up to two seedlings online at gjcity.org/seedlingdelivery. Forestry Division staff and volunteers will begin delivering tree seedlings to residents beginning Tuesday, April 20.

During the week of April 19th, Grand Junction Parks & Recreation will be sharing helpful tips on how to take care of seedlings and educational videos on the City’s urban tree canopy on social media. Follow Grand Junction Parks & Recreation on Facebook and Instagram. Residents can also enter to win a containerized tree by taking a picture of them and their family planting the seedlings on Arbor Day (April 24th) and posting the picture on social media tagging the City of Grand Junction using the hashtag #GJArborDay.

The seedling delivery program started in 2020 when the City needed an innovative solution for distributing tree seedings after the Southwest Arbor Fest was cancelled. Parks & Recreation Department staff typically would distribute tree seedlings at the event, which is hosted by the Department every April. Last year’s celebration was extremely popular, so do not wait to sign-up!
