This morning at 7:31 AM Grand Junction Fire Department Responded to a home fire in the area of 12th Street and Hill Avenue. When crews arrived, they found the home engulfed in flames and one person with minor injuries that was medically evaluated. Engine 2 was nearby on a medical call and was able to respond quickly with a reduced crew to begin putting water on the fire. As other fire crews arrived, firefighters were able to enter the home to search for other occupants and begin fighting the fire from the inside. No other injuries were reported, and the home sustained significant damage.
GJFD responded with Truck 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 4, Truck 6, Ambulance 1, Ambulance 6, Ambulance 12, an investigator, and a Battalion Chief. The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation. Excel Energy responded to assist with shutting off power and gas to the home. GJPD responded and temporarily closed 12th Street during fire suppression. American Red Cross will be assisting the single resident that is displaced from the home.
