At 11:38 PM Sunday night the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Power Rd for a possible wildland fire burning close to the Colorado River. Callers from the Grand Avenue Bridge reported seeing smoke and flames in the area. Crews from GJFD searched the area for best access to the fire and hiked into the location through thick brush over rough terrain. Crews working in the area of the fire used hand tools and natural fire breaks to create a perimeter and contained the fire by 2:18 AM. There are no known injuries from the fire. Origin and cause of the fire is under investigation.
GJFD responded with Truck 1, Brush 4, Brush 5, and a Battalion Chief. The Grand Junction Police Department responded to assist with scene safety.
