[ARCHIVED] Lincoln Park Pickleball/Tennis Court Community Meeting on Proposed Plan

Lincoln Park Pickleball Courts

The City of Grand Junction is seeking input from the community regarding a proposed plan for the Lincoln Park pickleball and tennis courts as outlined in the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Master Plan. A community meeting will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, August 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Park Barn to review the survey results, collect additional feedback, and answer community questions. Residents are also encouraged to take a short survey located at gjpr.org/lpsurvey to provide feedback on the plan.

The PROS Master Plan identified the need for additional pickleball courts. To attract large-scale pickleball tournaments to Grand Junction, the need for an expanded pickleball complex at Lincoln Park was identified. The plan would include four new tennis courts at Canyon View Park. These would be used for drop-in use only except for major tournaments. This would make a total of 16 tennis courts at Canyon View Park. The plan includes utilizing existing stubs to light the existing 12 courts at Canyon View.  Then, the 4 tennis courts at Lincoln Park would be converted to 10-12 pickleball courts. This would make for a total of 18-20 pickleball courts.

The Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Master Plan was adopted by Grand Junction City Council on January 6, 2021. The Master Plan was driven by community input and will help guide decisions on projects and services in the Grand Junction Parks & Recreation system over the next 10 years. A variety of research and input methods went into developing this plan including 997 responses from a statistically valid survey, 1,481 additional responses from an open link survey (not statistically valid), 11 public meetings, online engagement, and a level of service analysis. Over 3,000 people were involved in the PROS Master Plan process. To view the entire plan, please visit gjpr.org/pros..
