Major renovations to the Lincoln Park Stadium are scheduled to begin the week of September 13th. On Monday, September 13, the General Contractor for the project will begin mobilization to stage for the demolition of the aged stands behind home plate and along the 3rd baseline at Suplizio Field. In order for the contractor to safely renovate the stadium, fencing will be installed around the stadium. The path adjacent to the site will be closed to pedestrian traffic for the duration of the project. The track is still open to the public at this time but is scheduled to close in the middle of November when construction expands to the west stands at Stocker Stadium.
These renovations are included in the 2019 Lincoln Park Stadium Master Plan, which outlines improvements to the facility. Short-term renovations planned in this major renovation include new bleachers at Suplizio Field and all associated infrastructure, new western bleachers at Stocker Stadium and all associated infrastructure, electrical upgrades, IT and audio-visual upgrades, and improvements to the southwest and northwest entry ways. This renovation is an approximately $10 million collaborative project funded by the City of Grand Junction, the Grand Junction Baseball Committee (JUCO), School District 51 and Colorado Mesa University.
“The Lincoln Park Stadium Complex is a cornerstone of this community thanks to the collaboration that enabled it and continues to improve it,” said Parks & Recreation Director Ken Sherbenou. “We’re very appreciative to our Stadium partners for their leadership to make the Stadium’s positive impact upon our community as significant as possible.”
The City of Grand Junction and partners are thrilled to see this renovation take place. These renovations will increase the longevity of the stadium as Grand Junction continues to grow. The renovation is scheduled to be completed by May of 2022.
