GJPD Traffic Enforcement Operation

Newsflash - Patch

The Grand Junction Police Department is taking a proactive approach this weekend on traffic enforcement.

From the hours of 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Friday, October 29 the Grand Junction Police Department Traffic Unit, along with the Special Investigations Unit and our Patrol Officers, will be conducting increased traffic enforcement in frequent complaint areas within the City limits of Grand Junction.

The areas selected for this traffic operation include Patterson Road, Highway 50, and North Avenue. Officers will be focusing their efforts on speeding, careless/reckless driving, and speed exhibition. Traffic tickets will be issued for those in violation.

Traffic continues to be one of the largest complaints from our community and the selected areas of enforcement are areas in which our Traffic Unit sees the highest volume of regular traffic complaints.

“The purpose of this effort is to ensure a safe environment for our citizens to safely navigate City roadways,” said Traffic Sergeant Richard Roquemore. “We will work on limiting some of the factors that are often the result of vehicular crashes.”

Our community can expect to see a highly visible and proactive law enforcement approach in these targeted areas, where our goal is to create a deterrence for unlawful and dangerous driving. The Grand Junction Police Department encourages all residents to drive safely and abide by the rules of the road. In doing so, we can ensure everyone arrives at their destination safely.
