[ARCHIVED] Sign up for Emergency Alerts to be #ReadyGJ

hand holding phone to register for emergency alerts

The new year is an opportunity to learn, grow, and make plans for the future. In the spirit of continuous improvement, one of our core values, the City of Grand Junction’s Public Safety Agencies have set a goal of registering 10,000 additional cell phones to receive address-based emergency alerts in 2022.

“In an emergency that requires immediate action, this is one of the tools we rely on to get the right information to the right people at the right time. But to ensure notifications go to cell phones, we need folks to register their phone and addresses for the service now, before that emergency ever happens.” said City Emergency Manager Gus Hendricks.

GJRCC Director Jennifer Kirkland explained, “With the address-based notifications, that means if there is an emergency at your home, but you are not currently at your home, you’ll still receive the information on your cell phone if you have registered that address.” The great part of address-based notifications is that you can register to receive notices for multiple addresses like your home, your child’s school, family member's homes, and your workplace.
