The Grand Junction Police Department is investigating the circumstances that lead up to a “shots fired” call earlier this morning.
Shortly before 10am, officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to an apartment complex located at 200 Railyard Loop after someone called 9-1-1 stating shots had been fired. When officers arrived, they secured the perimeter and began interviewing witnesses and additional parties involved.
Initial investigation indicated that a bail agent went to the address to serve a warrant for a wanted subject. The subject brandished a weapon and the bail agent fired a single gunshot, ultimately missing the subject. A shelter in place was sent to residents inside the apartment complex, as officers began evacuating nearby units. The SWAT Team and Incident Dispatch Team were both called in to assist with the investigation.
The Grand Junction Police Department utilized their drone to assist with tactical operations but ultimately the residence was cleared, and the subject was not located inside.
The investigation remains ongoing. Officers believe this to be an isolated incident and do not believe there is currently any danger to the public. However, if you have information about this incident or the subjects involved, you are asked to call Non-Emergency Dispatch at 970-242-6707 and speak with a detective.
