[ARCHIVED] Grand Junction Arbor Day Seedling Delivery

Seedlings

Back by popular demand, the City of Grand Junction is celebrating Arbor Day with tree seedling deliveries. Starting at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12, Grand Junction residents will have the opportunity to request up to two seedlings online at www.gjcity.org/seedlingdelivery. Forestry staff and volunteers will begin delivering tree seedlings to residents beginning Tuesday, April 19.

The City is happy to bring back the Arbor Day celebration as a part of Southwest Arbor Fest happening at Lincoln Park on Saturday, April 23. If you miss the chance to get a seedling delivered to your home, be sure to stop by the Arbor Day event starting at 9:00 a.m. at the entrance to the Lincoln Park pool where seedlings will be available for the public and more.

“We were very impressed by the overwhelming popularity of this program in 2020, and I encourage residents to act quickly when the online portal opens as supplies are limited,” said City Forester Rob Davis, “I’m hopeful this unique program allows Parks & Recreation to connect with even more residents and creates a memorable tree planting experience for families to commemorate this year’s Arbor Day.”

Seedling deliveries started in 2020 with the COVID-19 canceling the Southwest Arbor Fest hosted by the City of Grand Junction Parks & Recreation department every April. To help continue the celebration during the pandemic, the City decided to bring Southwest Arbor Fest to residents through seedling deliveries. Last year’s celebration was extremely popular, so don’t wait to sign-up!
