At 9:30 AM Grand Junction Fire Department responded to reports of a home on fire on the 400 block of High Pointe Circle. When crews arrived they found a garage fully engulfed in flames with heavy smoke. The single occupant of the home had safely evacuated. Crews entered the garage to extinguish the fire and discovered that it had spread to the attic and the interior of the home. Firefighters continued to fight the blaze, but when the roof became unsafe they transitioned to fighting the fire from the outside of the home and were able to fully extinguish it. The home sustained significant damage.
GJFD responded with Ambulance 1, Ambulance 4, Truck 1, Engine 3, Engine 4, Engine 5, Truck 6, a Battalion and an Administrative Chief. GJPD also responded and assisted with scene control and a victim advocate volunteer. American Red Cross responded to provide assistance for the single adult displaced from the fire. The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.
