The Grand Junction Police Department has made an arrest in connection with the stabbing incident, that happened earlier today at Hawthorne Park.
Officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to the 400 block of Chipeta Avenue shortly before 12 p.m. today, after a reporting party called 9-1-1 stating an adult male had been stabbed at Hawthorne Park. When officers arrived at the residence, they located the victim, an adult male, who had suffered a stab wound to the chest. The victim was transported to the hospital by medical personnel. Officers then secured the area, set up a perimeter around the park, and began interviewing witnesses.
A short while later, officers located an adult male suspect near Hawthorne Park and arrested him without incident. Initial investigation indicates that the two males were involved in a verbal altercation that became physical, and the victim was ultimately stabbed. Sadly, the victim later succumbed to his injuries.
