Grand Junction Parks and Recreation has published the fall guide that provides information on classes, services, programs, special events, and more. Readers can also learn about city parks, trails, and facilities. Guides were mailed to Grand Junction residents and copies can be picked up from the Parks and Recreation office at 1340 Gunnison Avenue. An interactive, virtual guide is also available online at gjpr.org/seasonalguide.
This season, some new programs are being offered including the Giant Pumpkin Growing Contest, Water Lights at Night, and Take Part in Art at Rocket Park. In addition, the activity guide features information about the city’s process of gathering public input to build a Community Recreation Center. This includes historical data and new information about the steps being taken to engage the community to help determine the size of the facility, the amenities that will be offered, and how the center should be funded.
Parks and Recreation offers a wide variety of recreational programming for all ages and abilities. Traditional programming includes swimming, drop-in sports, and youth basketball. Online registration is available at gjparksandrec.org and also in person at the Lincoln Park office at 1340 Gunnison Ave.
