The investigation into a motorcycle vs. vehicle collision that happened earlier today, continues, as officers look at speed as a factor.
Shortly before 11:30 this morning, a 9-1-1 call came into our communications center from a reporting party stating there was a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle on Patterson Road, in the area of Placer Street.
Initial investigation indicates that a compact SUV, occupied by two females, was pulling out onto Patterson Rd from Placer St, when they were struck by a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Patterson.
Unfortunately, the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on scene. The occupants of the SUV were transported by medical personnel to a local hospital where they were examined for non-life-threatening injuries.
Patterson Rd has been shut down in both directions between 29 ½ Rd and 30 Rd for several hours, as officers and our Traffic Unit conduct their investigation. The Mesa County Coroner’s Officer will be responsible for releasing the name of the deceased, along with cause and manner of death, once appropriate notifications have been made.
