At 4:37 PM Grand Junction Fire Department Responded to reports of a home fire on the 2000 block of Aspen Street. When crews arrived on scene they found that three animals had safely evacuated through a pet door. In the home, firefighters found heavy smoke with fire in the kitchen. Crews worked quickly to put out the fire and limit the damage to the home, but in the process of this a firefighter sustained a minor injury and was transported to a hospital for care. Four people have been displaced from the home, no further injuries have been reported.
GJFD responded with Ambulance 3, Ambulance 4, Truck 1, Engine 3, Engine 4, Truck 6, a Medical Officer, and a Battalion Chief. GJPD responded and assisted with scene safety and traffic control. Red Cross also responded to assist those displaced by the fire.
