[ARCHIVED] City Kicks Off the Holiday Season with Installation of Tree Lights on Main Street and Colorado Ave

Holiday lights street closure

The City of Grand Junction kicks off the holiday season as Parks and Recreation staff members dressing up the trees along Main Street and Colorado Avenue with holiday lights. “Community members look forward to this annual tradition on Main Street and now can also enjoy portions of Colorado Avenue with lights that will illuminate our beautiful trees to usher in the holiday season,” said Ken Sherbenou, Parks and Recreation director.

Installation is scheduled from 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. every weekday through November 10, 2022. During installation, crews will be blocking off parking areas and portions of city streets for short periods of time in order to gain the best and safest access to the trees. Motorists are asked to reduce speed, use caution, and watch for closures while traveling on Main Street and Colorado Avenue.

In addition to holiday light installation, Parks and Recreation has many upcoming special events in December including a Holiday Light Tour for age 50+, annual Chocolate Walk, Candy Cane Hunt, and the Santa Cause Run. More information.
