GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. December 29, 2022 – The City of Grand Junction is hosting an online survey that opens Friday, December 30 for community members to provide input on the development of the City’s Urban Forestry Management Plan. The survey is available in English and Spanish. The deadline to complete the survey is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
The Forestry Plan is designed to guide decisions and operations of the city’s forestry division. This plan will also set goals for the growth of the tree canopy in Grand Junction and provide community members with educational resources about tree care and the benefits of trees.
A Tree City since 1982, the City of Grand Junction is especially proud of its role in contributing to a healthy urban tree canopy. The city’s 4,650 acres of urban tree canopy covers 11 percent of the community and is a central part of the green infrastructure which is critical to the community’s quality of life. The Parks and Recreation department maintains more than 37,000 public trees in the parks, along streets, and within natural open space areas.
By completing the survey, all community members have an opportunity to provide input. Survey responses will be included in the final analysis conducted by city staff in preparation of the Urban Forestry Management Plan.
