[ARCHIVED] City Launches Dual Stream Recycling Program

Dual Stream Recycling

The City of Grand Junction will begin phasing in a dual stream curbside recycling program with trash collection services for select areas of the city beginning in March of 2023. This new program will not only automate pickup but offer residents trash pickup on the same day as recycling. Residents participating in the Dual Stream program may also be able to lower costs by reducing the amount of trash they dispose and increasing the amount of material being recycled. Trash and recycling will be collected for one price depending on the size of the trash bin: Option #1 (48 gallon) is $11.50 a month, Option #2 (64 gallon) is $15.75 a month, and Option #3 (96 gallon) is $25 a month. Bin and service selections can be made online or at the Utilities office located at 910 Main Street.

The city will host an event for customers to learn more about the new program and see the new recycling bins on Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 4-7 p.m. in the Auditorium at City Hall 250 N. 5th Street.

The areas included in Phase 1 of the Dual Recycling Program are as follows:

  • March 7-downtown between 7th and 17th St. from Gunnison to Rood Ave.
  • March 20-downtown from 7th to 17th between Rood and Ute Ave. and the Canyon View/Granite Falls subdivision west of S. Camp Rd.
  • April 6-north of town between 26 ½ and 27 ¼ Rd. between G Rd. and Catalina Dr.
