The City of Grand Junction is hosting two events for the community to learn more about the goals, strategies, and details of the Urban Forestry Management Plan that is currently under development. An open house is planned for Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Park Stadium 910 N. 12 St. in the Hospitality Suite located on the fourth floor. In addition, a virtual event will be held online on Monday, February 27, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. Both events will begin with a brief presentation followed by opportunities for attendees to ask questions. Maps and other information will also be made available.
In January, city forestry staff conducted a community survey about urban forestry and more than 500 surveys were completed. The results of the survey will be shared at the open house events and incorporated into the final plan. As the next step in developing the Forestry Plan, these workshops will offer opportunities for the community to provide additional input regarding concerns and priorities about trees as well as ask questions and learn more about such topics as canopy coverage, water constraints, pests/diseases, and hazards, and the management of public trees.
