[ARCHIVED] The City of Grand Junction Waives Late Fees on Parking Tickets Until April 7, 2023

The City of Grand Junction Waives Late Fees on Parking Tickets

The City of Grand Junction will waive late fees for anyone with overdue parking tickets who pays the original fine by April 7, 2023. For example, a ticket for $15 with accumulated late fees could now be as much as $85. During the month of April, anyone paying the original fine will have the late fees waived which in the example would be $70. To check on outstanding parking tickets or for information, call the City of Grand Junction Municipal Court at 970-244-1537.

In total there are more than 9,000 parking spaces in the downtown area including free-unlimited spaces and paid-time limited spaces. The number of spaces that are either restricted by time or use totals just over 900. The importance of having limitations on parking spaces is to ensure that there is available and convenient parking for shoppers, employees, and businesses in the downtown area. Parking enforcement is an important tool for ensuring the availability of parking for everyone.

When a parking ticket is placed on the vehicle, it is due within a week or late fees are added. After seven days of the ticket not having been paid, a notice is sent to the registered owner of the vehicle reminding them of the ticket. Additional notices are sent at 14 and 30 days if the ticket remains unpaid. Three notices in total are sent for every ticket that remains outstanding. If there are three or more tickets outstanding on the same vehicle and they are all over 30 days late, then an immobilization order can be issued by the Municipal Court Judge. If a vehicle owner wants to contest a ticket, they can ask to be scheduled for Municipal Court by calling 970-244-1537.
