This class is designed for an active beginner and above, offering teaching for flexibility of mind and body in a fun and supportive environment. Variations, props, and more challenging options are given.
Orchard Mesa Pool
Take the plunge into club swimming with the Grand Junction Rapids! Practices include stroke workshops, spring and distance swims, starts and turns, and dry-land exercises. Registrants should be proficient in freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke and able to swim at least 50 yards non-stop. Knowledge of butterfly stroke is recommended.
Swim lessons begin at the Orchard Mesa Pool and continue through October 5, 2023. Multiple levels available including Aquatot 1, 2, 3, Water Acclimation, Waterworks 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Tai Chi, though originally developed as a martial art for self-defense, has evolved into a beautiful form of exercise that fosters physical and mental health improvement and aids spiritual growth. Tai Chi's slow, circular movements, breath control, and deep relaxation techniques help reduce stress, anxiety, and sleep difficulties.

Las Colonias Butterfly Pond
Let's celebrate together as we share in an evening of peace, beauty, and memories. Families gather to decorate lanterns that are released at sunset. This tranquil evening is an awe-inspiring site when hundreds of lanterns are launched on the Las Colonias Butterfly Pond, filling it with a soft warm glow. Attendance is free and food trucks will be on-site. Water lantern kits, including the lantern, LED tea light, and marker are $7 each, or six kits for $36. Lanterns cost $9 the day of the event. *Only lanterns purchased through Parks & Recreation allowed.
Bring the whole gang down or meet some new friends playing basketball, volleyball, or table tennis. Daily fees are collected at time of entry.
